Who are we and what do we stand for?

Like many travelers, we know it is necessary to engage in authentic traveling experiences to meaningfully learn about a place. It is important to learn their customs, to enjoy their food, to partake in their ways of life in order to realize their value and the importance of protecting them.

Today, many countries in Southern Europe and in Latin America are suffering as a result of exploitive tourism. Many locals are priced out of their own cities, many family-owned businesses are being forced to close to leave space for those that cater to tourists, and what was once a city full of rich cultural customs is transformed into a tourist-friendly theme park.

Our mission is to alleviate the destruction that this exploitative tourism brings. We want to fight against the destruction of local businesses, of natural spaces, of local cuisine, and of the ability of locals to live a dignified life.

As travelers ourselves, we profoundly understand and recognize the importance of travel for every single human being. Travel teaches us about the world in a way no other activity can. It has the power to make us more open-minded, more receptive, to broaden our understanding. We simultaneously recognize that for many of the countries mentioned above, tourism is already an indispensable part of their economy. As such, our mission is also to provide tourists with the ability to ethically support the places that they travel to.

In our website and in our application, we want to promote Authentic Tourism; we will recommend and incentivize tourists to visit and support activities and businesses that celebrate the local culture. This will include housing, social activities, food and shopping. It will also encourage tourists to visit and enjoy local music, art, and film that they would not have otherwise had the thought to enjoy, among many other things.

Local Support: We want to ensure that we are working closely with the local business owners whose businesses we want to promote on our application. We want to ensure that our actions are indeed mitigating the damages caused by tourism, and not contributing to any existing problems.

Mobile Application: We are working towards building an application so that we can connect tourists with activities and businesses that celebrate the unique culture of each city and provide an authentic experience which also helps the local communities thrive.
